West Ham’s chase for River Plate full-back Gonzalo Montiel continues to be covered by the Argentine media.
Even though the rumours about the Hammers’ attempts have cooled down for a while, the chance of a summer exit is still taken very seriously.
Outlet El Intransigente has today a story saying River Plate are already looking for a replacement for the player, eyeing a couple of options in the Argentine market.
The main candidates to sign Montiel continue to be West Ham, despite the failed attempt to get him in January on a loan deal with an option to buy.
It’s said the Premier League side could come for him again in the summer, and would offer US$15m to take him.
River Plate would only spend US$3m in a replacement, so West Ham’s offer would be more than enough to give the Buenos Aires side a decent profit.
However, we’re still to see claims of new contacts coming from the London side and perhaps things could get more serious once we get closer to the transfer window.
