Inter Milan are back chasing Pablo Zabaleta, according to reports from Italy.

CapturarThursday’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport claims the club have sent scouts to the Camp Nou last night, as Manchester City were facing Barcelona for the Champions League group stage.

One of the reasons why Inter are interested in Zabaleta is because his contract is expiring at the end of the season.

Corriere says that the player’s agent is waiting for a call from Manchester City to negotiate a new contract, but there are other options on the table.

Inter already tried to sign the Argentinean during the summer market, when the former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was still on charge of the club.

But Zabaleta’s salary were considered to be too high, and given that Pep Guardiola counted on him, the transfer never happened.

The newspaper claims that Inter’s idea is to make another attempt already in January, meaning City’s option to renew his contract (or not) should be decisive.
