Sturm Graz are unlikely to take up an option to sign striker Albian Ajeti from Celtic in the summer because of his injury problems.

That’s according to Sportal, relaying information from abseits.ch, who say the 26-year-old is likely to return to Celtic.

The striker has been with Sturm Graz since August last year, when he joined the club on loan after it was made clear he was not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans for this season.

He’s struggled for goals with the Austrian side, managing just four goals in 18 appearances in all competitions so far.

It is the lack of playing time that has been the real issue, though, as he’s accumulated just 941 minutes of action in total and featured in just 34% of the available minutes in the league.

That’s been due to injury issues, with the striker suffering a muscle injury in September last year and them a hamstring injury last month.

And it is those problems which have seemingly convinced Sturm Graz to not take up the option to sign him from Celtic on a permanent basis this summer.

Sportal report that the player’s ‘numerous injuries’ have kept throwing him off course and the feeling at the club that he has a ‘susceptibility’ to them is why they have refrained to take up their transfer option.

In all likelihood, Ajeti will now return to Celtic in the summer, although he is unlikely to find he has a place in Glasgow either
