According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray have stepped up  their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Uruguay international has been linked with a move to the Turkish champions in the past week.

Aspor today report on the latest developments regarding Galatasaray’s interest in the Tottenham player and they will be hoping to use his national teammate Fernando Muslera to convince him over a move to Istanbul.

The veteran goalkeeper has been with Galatasaray since 2011 and recently extended his contract for another season after it seemed he could be leaving this summer.

Galatasaray are said to have been in contact with Spurs with regards to signing Bentancur as they look to get a deal done in the coming weeks. The Super Lig side are reportedly hoping to loan him with an option to buy.

Typically for the Turkish media, that seems overly optimistic, and Spurs may not be so keen.

Bentancur made 24 appearances last season, scoring one goal. He’s contracted to the Premier League side until June 2026.
