The Brazilian press is now pretty confident that Chelsea loanee Nathan should be staying in his home country for longer.

After having him on a loan spell in 2019, Atlético Mineiro have been working on keeping him, and negotiations with the Blues have been ongoing for a while now.

Globo Esporte has a story about Atlético’s midfield today, saying there are many situations being sorted, including Nathan’s.

It’s said the renewal for his loan spell is is ‘well forwarded’, with the club keeping him for another six months. It’s also claimed that following the new loan, they will try to sign him on a permanent deal.

Nathan’s situation is very similar to the one of Allan, who left Liverpool to join Fluminense on a loan deal last year. Neither of the players had work permits to play in England.

It turns out that after the loan at Fluminense expired, Atlético ended up buying Allan this month. Now it seems they could do the same with Nathan very soon.
