Borussia Dortmund plan to ‘intensify talks’ with Manchester United over a new loan deal for Jadon Sancho once the Champions League final is done with.
That’s according to BILD, who say Gareth Southgate’s failure to include Sancho in his England squad has also played into the German side’s hands when it comes to negotiations with Manchester United.
The newspaper reports that while Sancho may have been disappointed to miss out on England’s extended squad for Euro 2024, Dortmund were secretly celebrating.
That’s because they plan to ‘intensify talks’ with Manchester United about signing the winger again this summer once the Champions League final is out of the way.
They would prefer another loan deal for next season and Sancho has indicated to the club he would like to stay, with a return to Manchester United considered impossible.
The Premier League side, though, are leaning towards selling and have put a hefty transfer fee of €65m on him as a starting point. Dortmund do not want to pay such a figure, and presumably cannot either.
Sancho’s exclusion from the England squad plays into their hands, though, as it means the player has been robbed of the chance of shining in Germany and pushing his asking price up higher.
Talks are planned anyway, so brace yourselves for lots of Sancho this summer, even if he is set to be sitting at home watching Euro 2024 like the rest of us.
