Salernitana owner Claudio Lotito still wants €3m for his forward Massimo Coda following attempts by Genoa to land the player. Leeds United held talks to sign Coda in the last window and they too were quoted this transfer fee.

Salernoinweb have reported Lotito has turned down an approach from Genoa to sign Coda in this transfer window. The Serie A side’s star forward Leonardo Pavoletti was recently sold to Napoli in a multi-million-pound deal and Coda is an option to fill this void.

Pavoletti himself was linked with a move to Leeds United two seasons ago before he joined Genoa from Sassuolo.

In recent days Lotito has fixed the asking price at €3m, but it’s not made clear if Genoa failed in their bid to sign the 28-year-old because they didn’t offer this sum.

We covered reports just after the summer window regarding Leeds United’s last ditch attempt to sign Coda. Leeds United officials travelled to Italy to hold transfer talks, but a deal never materialised.

It was reported at the time Leeds United weren’t prepared to pay the €3m asking price, but given Coda’s goalscoring form this season, this seems a bargain.
