Chelsea have seen Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen leave the club as free agents and could also see César Azpilicueta walk out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Spain international has a year left on his deal and has been attracting interest from Barcelona.

His chances to end up at the Camp Nou improved after the La Liga side let go of Dani Alves. The Brazilian returned to the Catalan club in January and was offered a deal until the end of the season. Barca decided not to hand an extension to the 39-year-old.

Sport state the main reason behind the Blaugrana’s decision to cut ties with Alves is that Xavi Hernández’s has the right-back position covered. In addition to this, the Spanish club are ‘optimistic about the arrival’ of Thomas Tuchel’s man this summer.

The Chelsea player is the great objective of Barca to strengthen their fullback positions. He can also operate in the heart of defence.

It’s claimed Xavi’s side had reached an agreement with the 32-year-old before the Blues unilaterally extended his deal until 2023. Due to this, Azpilicueta must negotiate his exit from Stamford Bridge with Chelsea’s new owners.

Barcelona are optimistic and believe they can strike a deal to bring the Chelsea star to the Camp Nou.
