“Jeremain Lens? Let’s see what happens.”
That’s the answer Besiktas officials gave to Fotomac when the newspaper asked about their reported interest in the Sunderland forward.
Besiktas officials are set met with Kees Vos to discuss the contract extensions of Oguzhan Ozyakup, Marrcelo, and Necip Uysal. Vos also represents Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens and Fotomac claim they will discuss the possibility of signing the Dutchman.
Lens, currently on loan at Fenerbahçe has been linked with a move to Besiktas over the past few months, and after Sunderland were relegated at the weekend speculation is growing he will remain in Turkey. Besiktas officials haven’t denied claims they want to sign Lens from Sunderland, and could go up against Fenerbahce to sign the player.
It now seems Fenerbahçe face an enormous battle to keep their star man beyond this season, despite recent claims they have an agreement to keep the Sunderland outcast for another year.
Lens has always said his preference is to stay at Fenerbahçe, but things can change very quickly in football.
Sunderland may well prefer to agree a deal with Besiktas, given how Lens and Fenerbahçe have messed them about.
