Aksam report Newcastle United have made a €12m bid to sign Oguzhan Ozyakup from Besiktas and the Turkish side could accept the offer.

It’s claimed Rafa Benitez is keen to sign Ozyakup and Newcastle United officials have made a move for the Turkish international.

The Turkish newspaper state Ozyakup is interested in playing in the Premier League next season, and wants to return to England after leaving Arsenal five years ago.

Besiktas officials are reportedly considering Newcastle United’s offer for their captain, but the Turkish side still need to solve their issues with his former club Arsenal. The Gunners will reportedly receive 30% of the transfer fee.

The general feeling in the Turkish media is that Ozyakup has already extended his contract with Besiktas, but the Turkish club haven’t announced the deal because of the clause with Arsenal.

It was due to run out this month, meaning the player would have been available for free, and making the claims seem somewhat questionable.

Newcastle United could face competition from Everton, who have also reportedly made an offer for Ozyakup.
