Paris Saint Germain have confirmed that defender Marquinhos will miss the upcoming clash with Newcastle United as he faces 10 days out with a small injury to his right hamstring.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Brazilian defender will miss this weekend’s clash in Ligue 1 and then the home game against Newcastle to boot.
They cover the latest injury update provided by the Parisian side, who have been left short of several key players thanks to the international break.
They’ve lost Marquinhos, Warren Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes and Presnel Kimpembe, with the Brazilian’s fitness in doubt over the last week.
He picked up an injury while on international duty with the Selecao, with reports indicating he could be set for a spell on the sidelines as a result.
PSG have now confirmed as much, reporting that he is the victim of a ‘small injury’ to his right hamstring that will require treatment for the next 10 days.
That means he will be absent for the upcoming clashes with Monaco and then Newcastle United, who travel to Paris in five days’ time on matchday five of the Champions League group stages.
Whether his absence proves to be a boost for Eddie Howe and his side, who are beset by their own injury problems, remains to be seen.
