Over the past few weeks, a lot has been said about the future of Simone Zaza at West Ham, as the Italian forward is expected to leave the Premier League club.
Napoli were keen on signing Zaza, but have opted for Genoa’s Leonardo Pavoletti, whilst there is also interest from Valencia.
According to a latest report from Spanish newspaper AS, Valencia’s director of football Jesus Garcia Pitarch was in London on Tuesday.
Pitrach wanted to convince Zaza to sign for Valencia and possibly take a wage cut, as they can’t afford his high wages.
However, Pitrach was also in negotiations with West Ham, as the London club want to recoup a part of €5m they paid to Juventus as loan fees for Zaza, but that’s something Valencia want to avoid compensating.
Interestingly, Valencia boss Cesare Prandelli also confirmed Pitrach has spoken to him about the possibility of signing Zaza, and he believes the West Ham forward could be an important player for them.
He said: “Zaza? When I came here I spoke to Suso about him. I know him very well and he could be important for us, but it’s something the directors will take care of.”
At the moment, it remains to be seen if Valencia can strike a deal with West Ham considering their financial restraints.
