Lyon’s Rachid Ghezzal could be leaving the club this summer with just one year left on his contract. Yesterday, L’Equipe reported West Ham have made a €8m for Ghezzal, and that more talks were expected later this week.
In their Wednesday edition, L’Equipe seem to have more details on the future of Ghezzal at the Ligue 1 club. It is reported Everton are also interested in signing the Algerian international.
Lyon are hoping to resolve the issue quickly, as they don’t want to drag it till the last few days of the transfer window.
The Ligue 1 club want to sell Ghezzal this summer if they fail to agree a new contract with him, and don’t want to risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted they’ve received an offer from West Ham, but they want the player to renew his contract.
He said: “I held his hand, I spoke to him. He wants me to talk with his advisers and I will call them this week to try to break the deadlock.
“I love Rachid, who is one of the symbols, with Nabil Fekir, of this Algerian community at Lyon. It would be really great that we can reach an agreement.
“We have received offers for him, including that of West Ham. I know Rachid will not leave Lyon so you have to find an agreement not to stay in a situation that is not good for neither party.”
The 24-year-old managed 10 goals and 9 assists in 38 appearances in all competitions last season.
