It doesn’t matter how important Gerard Deulofeu is for Watford and how reliant they are on his inconsistent creativity, the Spaniard will always be linked with a move elsewhere at one point.

His time at Milan was seen as a success despite average statistics (four goals and two assists in 18 games), which is why Italy is always seen as his potential next destination.

The problem for all the Serie A clubs where he could be a success is the price Watford would ask for their star man, who is contracted to Vicarage Road until 2023.

That hasn’t stopped someone offering his services around the Italian league, as Corriere dello Sport report Lazio were given the chance to sign him.

The Rome based club are currently looking for another forward, preferably a striker, and out of all the names available, Beijing Sinobo Guan’s Cédric Bakambu remains the likeliest target.

After all, Deulofeu, while he can play through the middle, remains a winger first and foremost, and if their aim is to help out Ciro Immobile by giving a strike partner, a natural finisher would be better than a makeshift goalscorer.

As for the Spaniard, there will likely come a time when he will leave for pastures anew, especially if Watford fail to avoid the drop this season, but it doesn’t seem like it will be in the next 48 hours.
