Cenk Tosun’s performances and goal scoring record for Beşiktaş had convinced Everton to bring him to Goodison Park in January 2018.
The striker, however, has failed to replicate the Beşiktaş form for the Toffees and has not managed to convince any of the managers he has played under at the Merseyside club.
His deal with the Premier League side will expire in June and he is likely to leave them as a free agent in the summer.
The Turkish club have shown interest in bringing the 30-year-old back to Istanbul and this was already confirmed by their president, Ahmet Nur Çebi, last month.
Fast forward to Saturday and Sabah gives an insight into the work done behind the scenes from the Süper Lig side to sign Frank Lampard’s man.
It’s said Beşiktaş have offered the Turkey international a three-year deal that will include an annual salary of €1.6m. He earns €3m per year [likely net] at Everton.
According to report, Tosun initially requested a deal worth €2.5m per year and has agreed to reduce it further by €500,000. In other words, the distance between supply [€1.6m] and demand [€2m] is now €400,000.
Sabah states the negotiations will continue between the two parties as Beşiktaş ‘plan to finalise the transfer’ of Tosun before the end of the season.
