While there is a certainty surrounding the future of Pedro at Chelsea (he’s not renewing his contract), there remains a question mark about what his next step will be.
The ageing winger has made it clear he will be looking for a new challenge next season after five years at Stamford Bridge, and there appears to be two options in front of him.
One would be to take the ‘exotic’ route and go team up with his former teammate and good friend Xavi at Al-Sadd in Qatar, and the other could be to continue in one of Europe’s top five leagues and give Serie A a go.
Both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport suggest the latter could be an option for the player, as the pink newspaper explain Pedro is ‘intrigued at the possibility of reaching Serie A’, with both Roma and Lazio interested.
As for the second of the two outlets, they have far more detail, going as far as suggesting Paulo Fonseca’s side have an offer ‘ready’ for the 32-year-old.
In fact, they wonder if Roma’s €3m/year + bonuses three-year deal they have ‘will be enough’ to steer Pedro away from the Middle-East.
That’s something they’ll have to find out for themselves, and a lot will depend on what the former Barcelona man wants from the final years of his career.
