Rumours, albeit weak, of Everton being keen on signing Arturo Vidal have been doing the rounds in the European media.
Since Carlo Ancelotti took over at Goodison Park, the Toffees have been taken more seriously as a transfer force, leading to claims which wouldn’t have otherwise been made.
Given Everton’s good relationship with Barcelona, based on several players swapping Catalonia for the blue side of Merseyside in recent years, it was inevitable they’d be linked with Camp Nou options again this summer.
Mundo Deportivo’s Monday edition covers claims, which they attribute to the Liverpool Echo but which started elsewhere, of Everton wanting Arturo Vidal, with efforts for the transfer having already started.
It’s then explained Ancelotti may be thwarted because Barcelona are considering keeping the Chilean for at least another season. He’s well liked by the players with influence at the club, and therefore the loose plan to part ways has a good chance of being shelved.
Mundo then state it’s likelier Ivan Rakitic leaves, so it’s surely just a matter of time before he’s linked with Everton instead.
