Barcelona are ‘not worried about being stalked’ by Chelsea as they continue to eye up a move for Ousmane Dembélé.
That’s according to Marca, who cover the situation around the Frenchman today as those in charge at the Nou Camp try to convince him to sign a new deal.
The newspaper explains that while they have been delighted to see Dembélé shining at the World Cup with France, that has not sped up their plans around the player.
His current contract expires in 2024 and they intend to sit down with him to extend that deal, if not he will be allowed to leave next summer for €50m.
Talks about an extension have not taken place over a new del as yet and Barcelona will not rush into those, despite being away of the ‘stalking of other entities’.
Chelsea are one of those who are keen on him, having been linked heavily with him throughout the last year, particularly before last summer when he was set to be available on a free before signing a new contract.
One of the reasons they are not rushing is the fact that Dembélé is focused on the World Cup with France, where he will this weekend play in the final against Argentina.
It is also believed that Dembélé will prioritise Barcelona over his other suitors as he ‘feels comfortable’ at the club and a ‘valued and important’ part of Xavi’s plans.
That’s not stopped other clubs from ‘leaking their desire’ to sign him and Chelsea are one of those, having kept him on their list of potential signings. Indeed, reports in England have made it clear that they are ‘serious’ about a deal.
That’s not concerning Barcelona, though, who are convinced the player will choose to stay, as he did last summer.
