Borussia Dortmund are not considering a move for Aston Villa youngster Carney Chukwuemeka, despite reports to the contrary.
Chukwuemeka is one of the hottest prospects in English football, having been likened to Jude Bellingham, which is high praise given his success in the Bundesliga so far.
His contract with Aston Villa is set to expire next summer, and, with no deal currently in place for him to extend his stay at Villa Park, a move has been mooted.
Dortmund have been named as one of his suitors on more than one occasion, with the Bundesliga well known for hoovering up youngsters around Europe.
They’re particularly fond of English talent, having signing the likes of Jadon Sancho and the aforementioned Bellingham in the past to great success.
That’s seen them linked with a move for Chukwuemeka, but according to Ruhr Nachrichten, that is not the case.
They report that Dortmund are not considering a move for the Aston Villa youngster, who is valued at around €6m.
The Bundesliga club currently have an ‘oversupply’ in defensive midfielder, and there is a belief they don’t need to further add to that.
Money is also an issue, with moves for Nico Schlotterbeck, Karim Adeyemi, Sebastien Haller and Salih Ozcan leaving the coffers ‘largely empty’.
Even if they were to fill up again via sales, which is a possibility, BVB’s managers will be looking at reinforcing other positions rather than midfield.
A move for Chukwuemeka is not on the cards for them, then, and he’ll have to look elsewhere if he does want a move this summer.
