With Jordi Alba the only recognised left-back at the Camp Nou, Barcelona are in the market for a backup for the Spain international.

Today’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo discusses various options and Kieran Tierney of Celtic is one of the players included in the list.

It is claimed the 21-year-old has been linked with the La Liga winners, Manchester United and Arsenal.

The report does not specify where the rumours linking the Scotland international with the Blaugrana have emerged, but that did not stop the newspaper from contacting Ernesto Valverde’s side to find out if there’s any truth in the claims.

Mundo state the Spanish champions ‘do not confirm’ whether or not the reports suggesting Barca interest in the Celtic defender are true.

Tierney’s current deal at Celtic Park runs down in 2023 and he’s valued around €30m in the transfer market.

Barcelona do not contemplate paying those figures for the player, who would be a backup for Alba.

Tierney, on the other hand, has made 37 starts for Celtic across all competitions, so may not be so happy sitting on the bench anyway.
