Juventus have an ‘advantage’ over Sevilla in the race for Manchester United outcast Anthony Martial as they are willing to cover the Frenchman’s wages.
That’s according to journalist Nicolo Ceccarini, who covers the Italian club’s efforts to sign the striker for Tuttomercatoweb today.
He explains that Juventus are ‘tightening up’ their efforts to bring a new striker to the club this month; with it now accepted, they need to find someone to add to the squad…
They have carried out surveys on several players, but it is Manchester United’s Martial who they have moved ‘more decisively’ on.
The idea for a move first appeared in December, and after it went quiet, it is now back on the agenda at the Italian giant.
There is competition from Sevilla for his signature and ‘Monchi is trying’, but Manchester United need them to contribute to Martial’s salary, something they ‘have no intention’ of doing.
That’s why Juventus ‘have the advantage’ as they are seemingly willing to do that, although Ceccarini doesn’t say this specifically.
That willingness to pay does put them ahead of Sevilla, though, so perhaps this could pick up in the coming days as we get closer to the end of the transfer window.
