Napoli need to finalise their move for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga ‘soon’, with the Spaniard a much-needed addition.

That’s according to journalist Carlo Alvino, who backs up reports from Spain today stating that the move was close to completion.

Kepa has been linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge all summer and it is Napoli who have pushed to the front of the queue in recent weeks.

A loan deal is on the cards and a report from AS in Spain today stated that it was ‘imminent’, explaining that Chelsea would be paying 75% of his wages during the one-year loan deal.

The sentiment has very much been that Napoli are keen to get things over the line as quickly as possible so they can add competition for Alex Meret and Alvino backs up that sense of urgency, although he is unable to put a timescale on when it might happen.

“Kepa deal close to completion? Certainly, the goalkeeper situation needs to be resolved soon,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Area Napoli.

“I’ll never tire of repeating it: every day that passes is a day lost to bring the new goalkeeper to Luciano Spalletti’s court.

“For the rest, we wait: patience will be needed to define Napoli’s market in detail. How will Napoli pay Kepa, if they want to keep him at home after his loan at Chelsea?

“I don’t know, I just hope Napoli can find the right formula to avoid valuing the player and losing him shortly after.

“For Kepa, every moment is the right one. I can’t say the actual timing, but they are working and the timing will be short. I can’t quantify and say if it will be done today or tomorrow, but it has to be done soon, that’s for sure.”
