Sent to Fiorentina for the season to get some minutes under his belt, Lucas Torreira is now widely expected to leave Arsenal at the end of the season and stay in Florence.

The Uruguay international has found a new lease of life in Italy under Vincenzo Italiano, and there have been multiples articles over the past months suggesting that the €15m option to buy agreed between the Gunners and their Italian counterparts would be triggered.

There has also been a few rumours of a discount being asked for, but it seems unlikely that Arsenal would agree to such terms, although stranger things have happened in football in the past.

Either way, La Repubblica are reporting, relayed by Labaro Viola, that ‘in the coming days, the companies will meet to define everything’.

For that to happen, however, Fiorentina qualifying for European football is a ‘natural prerequisite’, which isn’t guaranteed to happen, especially now that they have lost Dusan Vlahovic.

They currently sit eighth in Serie A, with a game in hand on AS Roma and Lazio ahead of them, and with 15 games left, anything can still happen.

We’ll have to wait and see, but all signs point towards Torreira leaving Arsenal permanently in the summer if Fiorentina qualify for Europe.
