Just when it seemed Galatasaray had created enough drama with Aston Villa, it seems they’ve decided to create a whole lot more.

That’s at least if journalist Mehmet Özcan is to be believed, with him reporting that Alex Moreno is now on the Turkish side’s list as well, in comments relayed by Haber Sari Kirmizi.

For those that don’t know, Galatasaray ended up involved in something of a mess throughout yesterday after targeting the signing of Lucas Digne from Aston Villa this summer.

Several reports and journalists from Turkey covered the news and even claimed they’d reached an agreement with the French defender, which was quickly rebuffed by the player and then his representatives.

A war of words continued between them and the Turkish press, specifically journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, with one countering the other in a pretty messy exchange.

Now it could be set to get a whole lot messier as Özcan reports that if Digne doesn’t end up at Galatasaray this summer, then his Aston Villa teammate Alex Moreno will instead.

“Galatasaray’s new left back will be from Aston Villa. One of Alex Moreno and Lucas Digne will be Galatasaray’s new left back,” Haber Sari Kirmizi report him saying on the Spor Alles YouTube channel.

The question is, when the decision was made that it would be one of those two players from Aston Villa this summer.

Perhaps during the messy affair with Digne yesterday the Turkish side simply decided that Moreno might be an easier target and asked Aston Villa about him instead.

That would certainly make sense, as Moreno now appears to be third choice for Villa behind Digne and Ian Maatsen, and therefore very much up for grabs.
