Liga NOS giants Porto are interested in the signing of Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha, according to reports from Portugal today.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias writes that the 22-year-old has become an alternative for the Dragons in case they don’t get to sign Alfredo Morelos from Rangers.
Porto are having a hard time to get to a deal with the Scottish side, who demand €15m for their star, and Nmecha is now presented as their ‘plan B’.
They point out that Portuguese side Sporting were linked to the striker a few weeks ago, but their league rivals are set to ‘join the play’, having him on their ‘agenda’.
Nmecha is a product of Manchester City’s academy, and spent the last years on loan spells at Preston North End, Wolfsburg, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht.
With 21 goals in Belgium this season, that isn’t the only factor which drew the attention of more clubs.
He’s also done well in the U-21 Euro this year, with four goals in six appearances, having won the title with Germany.
He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €12m, but Jornal de Notícias doesn’t say if Porto would like to have him on a loan or a permanent deal.
