Loaned out to Atalanta in July, Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic is having a pretty good start of season in Italy.

The player has made three appearances for the club so far, getting two goals and two assists.

His immediate impact has impressed all at Atalanta, including club manager Gian Pieri Gasperini, who publicly praised the player this week.

In a press conference before the game against Copenhagen, the boss said: “He has great quality, it is no coincidence that he belongs to Chelsea and they loaned him very young to teams of great value. I believe that here in Bergamo he can find the best conditions, like others, to evolve as a player.

“His qualities, both physical and technical, are of very high value. The fact that he has joined so well is because he has very important knowledge. Perhaps he is the only new one, apart from Zapata, and has had a more immediate impact”.

The quotes are covered by Fiorentina dedicated website Viola News. They recall that the club was fighting to get Pasalic this summer as well, and regret losing the race, as he’s been succeeding for their league rivals.

Signed from Croatian side Hajduk Split on a €2.5m deal in 2014, Pasalic is still to have a chance to play for Chelsea. He’s had loan spells at Elche, Monaco, Milan, Spartak Moscow, and now Atalanta.
