Chelsea defender Xavier Mbuyamba could spend the rest of the season elsewhere, according to reports from the Italian media today.
Newspaper L’Arena claims that Hellas Verona are currently evaluating the chances of signing the 20-year-old.
It’s said there have been ‘a few calls’ from the Serie A side in recent days. They have a couple of targets to strengthen their defence and Mbuyamba is one of them.
Since the Dutchman has no playing time for the Chelsea this season, the Blues are said to be looking for ‘accommodation’ for him in a place where he can get more appearances.
Mbuyamba joined Chelsea on a free move from Barcelona’s academy in the summer of 2020.
Even though he’s been frequently involved in Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy matches, his debut for the Blues’ first team is still to come.
The defender’s contract with the Stamford Bridge side expires in 2023, so following this decision on a potential loan, we should soon get to see whether the London side have any intentions of giving him a new deal.
