Wahbi Khazri has had such a good season on loan at Rennes that the Ligue 1 club are doubtful they can keep him for much longer.
Sent on loan from Sunderland, Khazri didn’t take long to put his misery behind him and has made a good impact at the French club.
Eleven goals so far this season have caught the eye, as well as Khazri’s all round performances, and Rennes have gone public more than once to explain that, whilst they’d dearly love to keep the Sunderland owned player, it’s not a likely prospect.
Earlier this month, Marseille were linked with a swoop for the players and the more interest arrives the better it will be for Sunderland, in terms of getting the best fee possible.
On the verge of relegation from the Championship, Sunderland can do with all the income they can get.
Rennes are so doubtful of their Khazri chances that they’ve moved on to another target, report Le10 Sport. Hatem Ben Arfa has been identified as a possible replacement, and approaches have been made.
The problem for Rennes is that Marseille, Lyon and others are interested in the PSG player, so it’d be a difficult one to secure.
