Star report Fenerbahce have made significant progress in their pursuit of Stoke City forward Benik Afobe, and the Turkish club’s sporting director Damien Comolli is hoping to confirm the signing of 26 year old in the near future.

It’s reported Fener have held talks with Afobe’s representatives, and the Stoke City man is said to be keen on playing in the Super Lig.

The Yellow Canaries are in the market for a striker this summer after they recently parted ways with Islam Slimani and Roberto Soldado.

The club’s third choice striker Michael Frey is also expected to leave the Istanbul club in this window, with Leeds United and Middlesbrough reported to be interested.

Comolli is now trying to convince Stoke City over a deal for the DR Congo international, who scored 9 goals for the Championship club last season.

Initially joining the Potters on loan, Afobe signed for Stoke permanently from Wolverhampton Wanderers during the last transfer window.
