Lyon are keen on signing Nottingham Forest’s Moussa Niakhaté in the summer window.
That’s according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that the Ligue 1 side have made progress in their pursuit to sign the 28-year-old.
He adds negotiations are ongoing between the parties, without making it clear if it’s with Nottingham Forest, the defender’s entourage or both.
Foot Mercato have provided a few additional information on their website. The French club are ‘wasting no time’ to reshape their current squad, and things seem to be ‘progressing quickly’.
It’s explained the parties have been in negotiations for ‘several days’, with optimism around the deal.
The French-born Senegal international joined Nottingham Forest from 1. FSV Mainz 05 in July 2022. He has a year left on his deal, with an option to extend it for another season.
Foot Mercato’s title says Lyon ‘make progress’ to sign Niakhaté, but there’s no deal agreed with Nottingham Forest so far.
