The past week has seen Tottenham linked with Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, who has enjoyed a good start to the season with the Italian club.

So much so, in fact, that the Serie A side have tried to protect themselves from interested clubs, such as Spurs, by getting their star to sign a new contract.

And, after a fair bit of negotiating, they have managed to convince him to put pen to paper to a new deal, keeping him at the club until 2027.

Whether that will be enough to put off Tottenham from signing him remains to be seen, but what it will certainly do is give Genoa a bit more leverage in any future negotiations.

The 26-year-old has caught the attention of many with his performances from the wing during the current campaign, as he has found the back of the net seven times in 14 appearances, as well as assisting one goal.

This is what appears to have led Tottenham to watch the Iceland international, who also boasts six goals in 35 caps for his country.
