Newcastle United may just be about to miss out on the signing of Angelo from Santos.
That’s because according to reports from Brazil, Flamengo have made a new offer trying to close a deal for the wonderkid.
Outlet O Dia reports that after two rejected bids, the Rio de Janeiro side are trying again with €13m, plus 20% of a future sale.
Santos are in a delicate financial situation and are willing to make a deal, despite continuing to make demands. Now the response to this last bid is still to be given.
Not long ago, it had been reported that Angelo’s club are actually waiting for offers from England, as they’d rather not sell to a rival, where Newcastle have been interested for quite some time.
That way, the player wouldn’t move to a Brazilian rival, and would even make a bigger step by joining the Premier League.
Outbidding Flamengo doesn’t sound like a big problem for Newcastle, who have been linked to Angelo since the last year now.
What seems to be lacking is the Magpies’ certainty about signing the player, since they are yet to engage in more serious negotiations for the purchase.
