Inter Milan have made an ‘immediate blitz’ for Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun after missing out on Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s according to FC Inter News, who follow up reports from last night that Inter are now working on a deal for the Arsenal man.

They explain that having lost out on Scamacca to Atalanta, Inter ‘returned to the office’ for Balogun after showing interest throughout this transfer window.

Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio last night ‘reactivated contacts’ with Arsenal via a phone call but at the moment the negotiation is quite complex.

The Nerazzurri were ‘really willing’ to offer €30m including bonuses for Balogun, the same figure they were willing to pay to sign Scamacca from West Ham.

It’s thought such an offer would be a waste of time as Arsenal have set their sights much higher, starting with a request of €50m for the American.

The belief is that ‘healthy negotiations’ between the two clubs could convince the Gunners to lower their demands to €35-40m, albeit with a ‘substantial percentage’ included in the case of a resale. That would be valued at 20%.

However, the feeling at Viale della Liberazione is that they cannot go beyond the effort they have already made for Scamacca and their budget for a new striker is set. They’d need the green light from the owners to go beyond it.

Balogun is therefore considered a ‘difficult objective’, but talks are underway and there is a slim hope they can convince Arsenal to lower their demands.
