Atalanta chief Lee Congerton has Leeds United’s Daniel James in his ‘notebook’ for the summer, according to Calcio Atalanta.
Congerton arrived in Italy following his experience in the UK with Celtic and Leicester City. He has eyes on several Premier League profiles and the list includes the Whites winger.
Leeds United are 18th in the table, level on points with 17th placed Burnley, and their survival in the Premier League will depend on final day results.
The situation at Elland Road could ‘favour’ La Dea in a ‘possible negotiation’ to sign the Wales international as the price tag would be ‘low’ if they are relegated from the top division.
It’s claimed Atalanta have made ‘contacts with the player’ and approached the the 24-year-old’s agent a few weeks ago. The report adds there would have been first talks regarding his salary.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side would have to do an ‘in-depth evaluation and analysis’, as the former Manchester United man currently earns €3m per year.
For now, Congerton has James’ name on his transfer ‘notebook’ and Atalanta have made ‘contacts’ for him through his agent.
