Paris Saint Germain are interested in a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães this month and can take advantage of a clause in his deal to get him.
That’s according to TNT Sports Brazil, who say PSG have been in contact with Newcastle over the midfielder already.
Reports earlier this week had indicated that PSG were looking at the Brazilian midfielder this month as they look to rebuild their squad and take the project in a new direction.
That idea was quickly dismissed, with Newcastle manager Eddie Howe even coming out today and insisting that he has no intention of letting the midfielder go this month, something that is shared by the club.
However, there is one crucial factor in their pursuit and that is the fact Guimarães currently has a clause in his Newcastle contract which allows any interested parties to pay his clause in three installments.
Thus, PSG would only have to pay €38.6m this month and then in two further installments, which is presumably more than affordable for them.
According to TNT the sale is seen as ‘interesting’ for Newcastle, who are facing problems due to Financial Fair Play and could register a big profit on a player they paid €42.1m to sign.
The deal depends on approval from the Brazilian midfielder, though, who is seemingly yet to give the ‘green light’ for the potential move at this point.
Then again, it’s unlikely his agent would be bothering with any of this if there was no temptation.
