Despite endless rumours about an exit, and despite multiple clubs coming forward with interest, Douglas Luiz stayed at Aston Villa beyond the summer market.
There’s already been claims about what will happen with the midfielder over the next year, and this week we covered a report from Brazil which stated he’s looking to run his Villa contract down and then leave the Birmingham club as a free agent next summer.
Obviously, that’s a scenario that Steven Gerrard’s side would want to avoid, hoping to get some financial return on their investment in the Brazilian.
Juventus could be about to offer them that opportunity, according to TuttoJuve, and it would be via a player owned by Everton.
According to their report, a January swap is being considered that would see Everton owned Moise Kean move to Aston Villa, and Luiz go in the opposite direction.
Kean has been on loan at Juventus since the start of last season, and the Turin club have a near obligatory clause to make the move permanent for almost €30m. They’d have to settle that before completing any swap, but TuttoJuve present this as a good plan for Juve.
The 22-year-old striker has failed to make the breakthrough since returning to Italy and there’s been numerous links with other clubs. Any January swap would likely see Everton receive their transfer money more quickly than they would have otherwise.
