According to a claim in the Turkish media, Besiktas are showing interest in Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The 26-year-old had an up and down season due to injury, but finished the campaign being Brendan Rodgers’ captain in the final league games.
Fotospor today report Besiktas could target the Celtic central defender if they fail to bring in one of their prime targets. Mat Hummels and Mario Hermoso are said to be their first choice and the Super Lig side are ready to make a final push to bring in either player.
However, the pursuit of both Hummels and Hermoso has been complicated and subsequently Carter-Vickers is seen as Besiktas’ plan B.
This summer the Istanbul side brought in Paulista and are keen to find him a central defensive partner. Sevilla’s Marcao is also reported to be a back up plan for the Black Eagles, and the Spanish are said to be looking at offloading the Brazilian.
Carter-Vickers made 31 appearances for Celtic last season, scoring 1 goal. He’s contacted to the Scottish champions until June 2029.
