It’s fair to say Aston Villa have had a busy summer, with several incomings and outgoings at the club.

The incomings took priority as the club shaped their squad for the Premier League, but there were also 15 departures as various players left either permanently or on loan.

The next to join that list could be goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic if the latest report from IL Secolo XIX is to be believed.

They report that Sampdoria are looking to find a back up to number one Emil Audero this summer and Kalinic is the man they have identified as the player to take up the role.

The goalkeeper has made it clear he wants to leave Villa Park this summer, and that’s presumably why Sampdoria are interested.

There’s no mention of contact with Aston Villa, or whether they’d be keen to sell, but they signed Tom Heaton this summer and have Jed Steer and Örjan Nyland as back up so there’s every chance they’d be open to a sale.

Steer has been the back up goalkeeper in all three of their Premier League games so far, suggesting Kalinic is out of the picture at present.
