Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Bologna were interested in Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci.
The Serie A side are looking to bring in a central defender this summer, and they have now been linked with Empoli’s Federico Barba. Incidentally, Barba partnered Bellusci last season at Empoli when the Leeds United player was loaned out to the Italian club.
TMW have reported Bologna manager Roberto Donadoni is looking to sign a defender in the next window, and they say along with Bellusci, Barba is an option. The 23-year-old could leave Empoli this summer after the Tuscan side were relegated to Serie B.
Bellusci also has the dilemma of playing Serie B football with Empoli next season. Empoli have an option to make his move from Leeds United permanent for €2m, but they will need to convince the player to drop down to the second tier.
The 27-year-old is at a stage of his career where he will want to be playing in Serie A, and the Leeds United outcast could be tempted with a transfer to Bologna.
For Leeds United and Bellusci it would be disappointing if Bologna interest evaporated and the Tuscan club moved on to other targets.
