On March 26th, we carried a report from Sport, who explained that Alberto Moreno of Liverpool is in ‘pole position’ to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The same publication reported on April 4th that Barca are looking to bring in an experienced left-back who is available on a free transfer, and the former Sevilla man’s experience and the contract situation fit the profile.

The front page of Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo looks at the ‘pulse of the market’ and the Blaugrana’s decision to bring in a left-back as a backup for Jordi Alba is on ‘standby’.

It’s further claimed in the Catalan newspaper that Ernesto Valverde’s side ‘likes’ the Liverpool player, but he is not the ‘first option’ for transfer in the summer.

Apart from Moreno, the report explains the Spanish champions have several other options and the list includes the likes of Filipe Luis of Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano’s Alex Moreno.

With Alba having committed his long-term future to Barca, signing a left-back will not be in the list of priorities for them in the summer.

This pretty much goes against everything which the Catalan media have reported to this date, and is perhaps a sign of the growing De Ligt obsession, with everything else taking a backseat.
