Ahead of the Europa League clash between Manchester United and Milan, Diogo Dalot has been at the centre of various conversations.
After all, the Portuguese defender has been on loan with the Serie A side since the start of the campaign, and while there has been talk he could stay for longer, the general consensus is he is likely to return to Old Trafford once the season ends.
That, in turn, opens the door for other clubs who might have been impressed by his sporadic performances in a Milan shirt, which appears to include Napoli.
Aurelio de Laurentiis’ side have struggled with the full-back position in recent years, with problems ranging from Faouzi Ghoulam’s constant injuries to Elseid Hysaj falling out of favour depending on who the manager was.
Perhaps that’s why targeting a player such as Dalot, who can play on either side of the defence, makes sense, which is what Tuttosport believe Napoli have done.
Relayed by Spazio Milan, the Italian newspaper report the Serie A side are looking for a new full-back, and ‘would like to join’ in the attempts to sign Diogo Dalot.
It’s then added that what could help here are the ‘cordial relations’ between agent ‘Gabriele Giuffrida and Joel Glazer’, in hope of ‘getting a discount’.
There’s not a huge amount of information beyond that, but if he’s caught the attention of the scouts at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, it’s certainly something Manchester United could consider if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decides to part ways with the Portugal U21 international next season once again.
