The deal Barcelona agreed for Philippe Coutinho has long caused annoyance in the media surrounding the Catalan club.
Various claims have been made on the actual amount, and it’s clear that the Blaugrana offered far too much when in a battle with the Reds for the Brazilian’s future.
That situation has followed Coutinho almost since he arrived at the Camp Nou, and made his career at Barcelona even more difficult than it would have otherwise been.
Liverpool made sure they were entitled to a whole string of bonuses based on the player’s future success, and much of Barcelona’s concentration since has revolved around avoiding those payments.
Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo covers the latest claims of interest from the Premier League, and as part of the article they mention future money which could be going towards Liverpool.
It’s stated Barcelona will have to pay the club a further €20m once Coutinho has made 100 appearances, and that’s something they obviously want to avoid.
Therefore, a summer transfer is very much on the cards as Barca look to run away from financial commitments of the past.
