Featuring for just 196 minutes in the Premier League this season for Arsenal, there’s no denying that Albert Sambi Lokonga was hoping for better this season.

This is a continuation from what happened during the last campaign, and the player revealed he came close to wanting to find a new club in the summer before deciding to knuckle down and try and break through with the Gunners.

Still, this summer saw interest from both Milan and AS Roma, but a deal never materialised, leaving the young Belgian at Arsenal to fight for minutes.

A few more have come in the Europa League, where he has played most of his football, and with the Gunners doing so well in the Premier League, it’s somewhat understandable that Mikel Arteta doesn’t want to change his lineup too much.

Regardless, clubs are aware of Lokonga’s situation at Arsenal, and another Italian team could try and take advantage of it, if journalist Paolo Bargiggia is to be believed.

Speaking on Diretta Mercado, relayed by Area Napoli, the Italian looked at what moves could happen at Napoli going forward, with Lokonga being mentioned.

He said: “There are a couple of interesting things to say about Napoli. Cristiano Giuntoli is studying a striker should Osimhen leave. There are many names discussed. Among these, Jonathan David and Youssef En-Nesyri are profiles that are of great interest to the Campania management.

“Kvaratskhelia will not be sold. Osimhen could instead go away at certain figures and Zielinski in second place. Napoli are also looking for a deputy Lobotka: they like Albert Sambi Lokonga from Arsenal.”
