Argentine side Racing Club are ‘licking their lips’ at the prospect of midfielder Carlos Alcaraz securing a permanent move to Juventus from Southampton having agreed a percentage of a future sale in his departure in January 2023.

That’s according to Ambito, who say the club would be set to benefit from the youngster once again if he impresses in Italy.

Alcaraz joined Juventus on loan from Southampton on January first, initially joining them on a loan deal that includes an option for them to make it permanent in the summer.

Reports in Italy have made it clear that Juventus’ option to sign him from Southampton is worth €49.5m and Racing are licking their lips at the prospect of that being activated.

They sold Alcaraz to Southampton in a €16.65m deal last year but negotiated a 15% sell-on clause in that deal to go alongside the 5% training rights they would be entitled to also.

Therefore, is Juventus were to sign Alcaraz on a permanent basis, the Avellaneda team could receive a sum that ranges between €5-6m, a figure they would naturally welcome gladly.

Of course, it all depends on if Alcaraz can impress Juventus enough to convince them to pay such a figure. At the moment that seems unlikely, with Italian sides usually reluctant to spend their money and Juventus hardly prospering economically at this moment in time either.

It would not be surprising if they try to renegotiate with Southampton in the summer for a lower fee, which Racing would of course benefit from also, so perhaps its win-win regardless.
