As the Portuguese media continues to report Sporting’s chase for Mainz defender Jeremiah St. Juste, newspaper Record features another story on this subject today.
The outlet now writes the Lions will ‘strongly invest’ in this signing, as the player is ‘on top of the list’ for the Lisbon side this summer.
It turns out that the report doesn’t forget about the interest from Newcastle United, claiming Sporting ‘know’ there are other clubs who are ‘interested’ in the 25-year-old.
It’s claimed Mainz know it’s the ‘right time to negotiate’, as St. Juste’s contract expires in 2023, and the Bundesliga side want to make something between €10m and €12m with the sale.
Newcastle have been linked to St. Juste since January, with the claims first made by the German media, and now confirmed by the Portuguese press.
Once labelled the fastest player in the Bundesliga, the defender is also expected to be chased by Premier League sides, since Leicester City and West Ham are said to be interested as well.
Now with Newcastle having this new economic power, perhaps the Magpies won’t struggle to win this auction.
