Real Madrid retain a right of first refusal on Arsenal star Martin Ødegaard, should he ever look to leave the Emirates in future.

That’s according to journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon, who says there is a way the midfielder could end up back at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ødegaard is currently shining for Arsenal, who sit top of the Premier League table and continued their title push with a win over West Ham this week.

The Norwegian was a key player in that victory, bagging two assists in the 3-1 win to take his tally to six goals and four assists in 14 Premier League games this season.

He has continued his fine form from last season, when he had seven goals and four assists in 36 Premier League games to his name and is finally starting to develop into the star that many predicted he would be when he was just a teenager.

That did not appear to be on the cards for him following his disappointing spell at Real Madrid, who he joined in a high profile move as a youngster but made just 11 appearances for before moving to Arsenal permanently in August last year.

He’s been shining under Mikel Arteta since and it seems the Spanish giants will have an option to bring him back in future, if a race for his signature ever develops.

“There is a kind of right of first refusal for Real Madrid that we will see if at some point it makes sense for them to exercise it,” he told his YouTube channel.

“Ødegaard has just turned 24 and is still at a good age. We’ll see, but with Bellingham there would be a more powerful project.

“His (Ødegaard’s) talent is special and he spent very little time here.”
