Atlético Madrid have identified Watford striker Luis Suárez as a summer target as they look to add to their forward line this summer.
Suárez is currently on loan at Real Zaragoza and has impressed, scoring 17 goals in 30 games this season to sit second in the LaLiga 2 goalscoring charts.
His form has not gone unnoticed and, according to Heraldo, Atlético are keen on his signature as they are looking to add a new forward to their squad this summer.
They view the Watford loanee as a player with the ‘ideal profile and skills’ to fit into Diego Simeone’s model of play, while his dual nationality also makes him an attractive signing.
They’ve been following him in ‘recent weeks’ and, according to the newspaper, have already contacted his agents to ‘covey their interest’ and discover how to make a deal happen.
Getting a deal done with Watford may be tricky though. The Hornets have the striker in their plans for next season and have already invited him to travel to England as soon as possible to discuss his return.
However, it will be ‘more difficult’ to keep him if they were relegated, with Nigel Pearson’s side currently 17th in the table.
Zaragoza are also keen to try and sign him, and the player would be open to staying, but if Atlético push their interest into something more concrete, they will have no chance of securing his signature.
Suárez is not the only Watford player linked with a move to the Wanda Metropolitano this summer either, with them also keen on left-back Pervis Estupiñan.
He’s another to have impressed on loan in Spain this season and perhaps they’re eyeing up a double raid once the transfer window comes around.
