The Portuguese press remains confident that Ruben Neves can be sold in the next transfer window. The recent rumours have been linking the player to both Chelsea and Liverpool, but the arguments are still far from convincing.

On Tuesday, A Bola brings an update saying the player has done really well in the Euro U21s, and was even individually applauded. The scouts present at the tournament are now impressed, and that will make the clubs – which haven’t been named – surer they want him.

That’s why this would be the right time for Porto to sell. The expectation is that they can get something close to the transfer of André Silva to Milan, which was €38m plus bonuses.

And once again, Liverpool and Chelsea are dragged as the chosen destination, and presented as potential candidates to pay such a fee.

Ruben Neves has a €40m release clause, and A Bola believes Porto could get close to that. The problem is: apart from the Juventus, Chelsea and Liverpool vague links, it’s still not clear who would pay that much for the youngster.

A Bola are optimistic a deal could be done this summer. At the prices quoted, we don’t share that optimism.
