As the silent race for Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho continues, Athletico Paranaense have reportedly intensified talks for his signing.

The information comes from Brazilian outlet UOL, who today write that the club started to ‘draw’ the offer which they’ll present to the 35-year-old.

It’s claimed that Fernandinho will ‘hardly’ have his contract with Manchester City renewed, and another reason for his departure is that he wants to leave England ‘at a high level’.

UOL adds that besides considering his age, Pep Guardiola’s side are eyeing other players for the position, such as Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Dortmund and Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Fernandinho was born in the state of Paraná and started his career at Atheltico Paranaense. That’s why his agent recently claimed that in case he returned to Brazil, it’d be unlikely for him to join any other club.

Despite seeming to be in his final days at Manchester City, Fernandinho continues being an important piece for Pep Guardiola, with 26 appearances for the club this season, carrying the captain’s armband in many of them.
