According to Milliyet, Fenerbahce have informed the Turkish stock market (KAP) that they have commenced transfer talks with Aston Villa with regards to signing Mbwana Samatta.
The Tanzanian striker last night landed in Istanbul ahead of his proposed move to Fenerbahce, after being linked with the Super Lig side in recent weeks.
Fener are in the market for a new forward after recently selling Vedat Muriqi to Serie A side Lazio, and the Aston Villa player has been their primary target.
Despite only signing for the Premier League side in the last transfer window it seemed inevitable he would move on this summer. He’s failed to make an impact since his arrival in England and the recent arrivals at Villa Park has meant he’s dropped down the pecking order.
The details of the deal are not quite clear at the moment, but the Istanbul side say that they are in talks to sign him permanently. Turkish clubs only make these announcements when a deal is close to completion.
